A) 2 analytical questions B) Comment/reaction C) Relate to current news article
A. Prepare 2 (two) interpretive/analytical questions based on the entire week’s ethnographic readings to ask fellow classmates in discussion. “How” and “why” questions are especially good. Avoid “yes/no” questions. Questions can be complex. Questions might focus on specific aspects of the readings that seem especially significant or puzzling. They could examine a question posed in the reading, a statement, the setting, the situation, a conflict, an irony, or something of interest. The questions should start with a brief synthesis of points in the reading (i.e. explain how you arrived at the question) but should focus on your own original and critical responses.
B. Comment on the reading. What were your reactions?
C. Relate the material to a current news article. Think of what kind of insight an anthropological perspective might offer. You can think of this in terms of broad concepts for each set of readings, e.g. violence, migration, gender, identity. However you must comment on the relevance of the article to the topic covered. Provide (copy and paste) the link to the article text at the end of the discussion guide. Articles from Latin American sources are preferable.
