Since my last journal entry, I have learned a lot about leadership in healthcare. In my future career, I would like to be in a leadership position pertaining to healthcare. As a leader, the information I have gained since my last journal entry will be essential in my practice. I will apply it by giving my subordinates direction hence, enabling them to align with and commit to organizational goals. Additionally, the information I have gained will enable me to develop behaviors and strategies that will promote the quality of care provided by the organization I shall be working for. By doing so, I will also be guiding compassionate and safe care by healthcare professionals in the organization.
Studies have shown that healthcare professionals are more productive in working environments where leaders are supportive, participative, and facilitative (Malila et al., 2018). I will apply my newly acquired knowledge in my future career by utilizing leadership styles that will improve cohesion among members of the team that I will be leading. Moreover, I will create programs to motivate healthcare professionals in the organization that I will be working for. As a result, members of the organization will experience significantly lower levels of stress and efficacy will be improved throughout the organization. Another way in which I will apply what I have learned to my future career is by being a participative leader. This can be through acting as a role model to other employees and conducting myself in a manner consistent with my organization’s overall values, goals, mission, and vision.
Healthcare leaders have a responsibility to enhance employee job satisfaction (Fletcher et al., 2019). I will apply this knowledge by offering individualized consideration to each member of the team that I will be leading. Furthermore, I will provide motivation and ensure that employees can exploit their full potential.
