From the assessment my general level of personal vision is higher with creating vision. Creating the vision has to do with whether an individual thinks about the future, and whether the individual is able to engage others in the future (Daft, 2015). I think that I scored this way because I am more comfortable in creating and encouraging visions rather than implementing visions. My personal vision statement: I will be able to positively lead others. I will be consistent. I will encourage and inspire others to adhere to their values and outcomes. As I leader I will lead by example and display excellence, integrity, and honesty.
The next steps that I think that I need to take in developing my personal vision is to become better at outwardly displaying my enthusiasm for my work. It is easy for me to get burnt out and tired in the field of athletic training. I think that I can better prevent burn out by making certain that my activities are broken down into manageable parts.

On Leader’s Self-Insight 13.1 I scored 5 out of 10. So clearly there are a lot of things I need to work on. In creating this personal vision statement, I hope to gain focus and energy in order to be a better leader. A clear vision lets people know what they should and should not be doing (Daft 2015). Vision gives purpose and meaning because they have something to commit to (Daft 2015). They know what their goal is and how to work toward it. Vision gives purpose. And when someone has a purpose, it makes it easier to go to work every day and to feel like you are a part of something bigger.
So, what is a Vision Statement? A vision statement encompasses everything you would like to be, do, and have in your career (Madsen 2013). It helps you express where you want to be in the future and reflects your values, goals and purpose, it answers “Where do I want to be?” (Madsen 2013). A vision statement is adaptable. (Whelchel 2014). It can change as your goals change. It should be written down, memorized, and does not need to be extravagant (Whelchel 2014). A vision statement creates priorities and a plan of action (Whelchel 2014). I have kept all of this in mind while writing my personal vision statement. While part of my vision statement will stay the same, a portion of it contains goals I have set for myself to reach within the next two years.
Vision Statement: I will end each day with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction because I know that I have done things to the best of my ability. I will take pride in the work I have done. I will take strides to strengthen my weaknesses in an effort to become a better person and employee. Over the next two years, I will complete my Master’s degree to make myself more marketable and simply proving to myself that I am capable of doing things even when they are difficult.
