RESEARCH PROJECT
- Final Research Manuscript: max 3,000 words (with abstract and references) (20 points). Abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusion. Reference section should have at least 20 references and max 60 references.
- The final written project should be more than 2000 words and less than 3,000 words (double space, font 12) not including reference section or Abstract. In this assignment, each group will pick a specific topic, from the list of research projects provided below, of which they will conduct a detailed research analysis to include:
- Introduction (2-3 pages) max.
- Definition of topic.
- Basic description of the topic and its relevance in the U.S. Health Care System
- Purpose of the research project (LAST PARAGRAPH of introduction).
- Methodology (1 page) max.
- Results (findings of your literature review, 5-8 pages) max.
- Discussion: (3-4 pages) max.
- Discuss your findings.
- Clearly identify the positive and negative components of that topic.
- State limitations of the research study.
- Discuss the practical implication of that topic for the U.S. Health Care System.
- Practical implications ( 2-3 paragraphs)
- Conclusion (max. 1 paragraph, 2-3 lines max.
- Research manuscripts (drafts and final paper) are expected to be no more than 3,000 words and less than 2,000 words (without counting references or abstract), completed by the student(s). More or less of maximum and minimum of words will be penalized and points will be discounted.
- Writing Style: American Psychological Association (APA) 5th or 6*.
- Abstract should not exceed 300 words (max. 305 words) and should contain: Introduction, purpose of the study, methods, results and discussion / conclusion.
- References Final Manuscript (at least 20-40 different references which should include 10-15 journals), APA style.
- *Wikipedia is not an academic source and points will be discounted if used.
No more than 2-3 newspaper/magazine/books references can be used (max.).
Some tips for research projects:
- Write in past tense and third person. Write in present only practical implications.
- No quotes accepted.
- In Introduction you can use maximum 2 TIMES SAME REFERENCE and you CAN NOT USE REFERENCES OF THE INTRODUCTION IN THE RESULTS SECTION. POINTS WILL BE DISCOUNTED IF IT IS NOT FOLLOWED INSTRUCTIONS.
- Four (4) times same reference in results
- No bullets allowed in text (only with permission of the instructor). You need to write it.
- Use publications from only last ten years or max years 2005-2017, unless is a conceptual framework.
- Use of PUBLICATIONS FROM 1999 and before WILL BE PENALIZED as well as studies performed in 1999 or before.
