1. Review Chapter 5 in your PHR/SPHR: Professional in Human Resources Deluxe Certification Study Guide.
2. Read Case 12 – Analyzing Promotion Data: Applying the 80% Rule, in your Human Resource Management Applications: Cases, Exercises, Incidents, and Skill Builders textbook.
3. Read Exercise 31 – Work and Family Issues, in your Human Resource Management Applications: Cases, Exercises, Incidents, and Skill Builders textbook.
4. Write a one page paper respond to the following:
a. Performance Management: Read Case 12 – Analyzing Promotion Data: Applying the 80% Rule, in your Human Resource Management Applications: Cases, Exercieses, Incidents, and Skill Builders textbook, then answer questions 1 , 2, 3, 4, and 5.
b. Unique Needs of Employees: Read Exercise 31 – Work and Family Issues, in your Human Resource Management Applications: Cases, Exercieses, Incidents, and Skill Builders textbook, then identify at least two possible policies and programs for this company to better reconcile work and family life.
c. Metrics: Measuring Results
i. Referring to Kirkpatrick’s four types of training evaluation (i.e., reaction, learning, behavior, and results, pp. 266-267), explain what each one measures.
ii. Describe when is it appropriate to use a pretest/posttest comparison?
iii. “The most important measure for human resource development is how (or whether) an intervention affected business results” (Reed & Bogardus, 2015, p. 277). Two business impact measures include production measures and return on investment. Define production measures, identify two general applications, and provide one specific example for how to use and calculate the measure.
iv. Identify one of the three tactical accountability measures identified in the PHR/SPHR textbook (pp. 141-142) and tell how to use and calculate each measure.
