English 101
Essay should include:
- presents and sustains a controlling thesis or point of view in a clear, critical, and persuasive manner
- is coherently, logically, and effectively organized through well-developed paragraphs that are unified by specific, vivid, and appropriate details
- demonstrates a substantial, in-depth understanding of the text(s) being employed
- analyzes ideas and issues using well-chosen examples and evidence drawn from one or texts and, if appropriate, the writer’s own knowledge and insights
- successfully uses sophisticated diction and sentence structure for rhetorical effect
perspectives, interpreting results, or drawing inferences. Be sure to identify the sources of your information or ideas using a standard citation method.
Include a few more supporting statements with further evidence, then use transition words to lead to the paragraph that follows. All of your body paragraphs should follow the pattern of statement, supporting ideas, and transition statement. Lastly, you have to a good ending which is the conclusion sentances in each body paragraph. the conclusion sentances have to inclued every thing that you talked about in your paragraph.
Conclusion:
- include a brief summary of the paper’s main points.
- ask a provocative question.
- use a quotation.
- evoke a vivid image.
- call for some sort of action.
- end with a warning.
- universalize (compare to other situations).
- suggest results or consequences
