This assignment requires you to review the current literature on one of the Selection topics covered in class, excluding general topics such as motivation, performance appraisal, etc. All topics must be pre-approved according to the syllabus.
An example of topic is glass ceiling is fine but you must present information related to the class. You must talk about recruiting and selection. It is not enough to just talk about the existence of the glass ceiling.
The papers should be technical in nature, focusing on factual research results along with technical recommendations for management. The papers should not focus on problem identification or definitions, but on solutions and recommendations. This is a review of the information contained in the articles with a comparison of the information from different sources, and an additional section of your views on the information and recommendations. The finished product looks like an article from the Academy of Management Review or the literature review section of a research article. This is not a review of individual articles, nor is it a general review of the topic with minimal information and/or quotations from the articles.
The papers should be at least 13 full pages long (1” margins, Times New Roman font, 12 pt., double spaced without additional spacing or unnecessary page breaks), excluding the title page, abstract and bibliography. At least one page must be a comparison of the quality of the information in the different sources. At least two full pages the paper, a separate, identified section, should be your interpretation of the information, practical implication, recommendations, and conclusion. This final section is not just a summary of the papers or a restatement of the information from the articles.
You must use at least 5 articles from academic journals, 3 articles from practitioner journals, and 3 sources from the internet
• Cites the proper number of articles from the approved list (or pre-approved).
• Provides an integrated review of the information contained in the articles that represents at least 80% of the body of the papers, excluding the comparison and personal views sections.
• Includes a complete bibliography of all works cited in the body of the papers.
• Includes proper citations for all material obtained from the articles.
• Meets the 13 full page and formatting requirements.
• Includes a separate, identified section (at least 2 pages) with personal views and recommendations beyond a general summary or restatement of the information in the review section;
• Includes a separate, identified section (at least 1 page) with a comparison of the quality of information from the various sources;
• Reflects senior level work.
• Does not include any quoted material.
• Does not use any material from the textbook or other textbooks.
• Does not include material from books, book reviews in the academic journals, or any other non-approved sources.
• Does not include a general discussion of the topic with minimal information from the articles.
• Does not include plagiarism representing more than 15% of the paper.
