Chapter 4 of Gabbidon & Green, Race and Crime, 3rd Edition. (pp. 103-130) deals with policing, and looks at historical and contemporary aspects of race and policing. In recent years, the police-related deaths of Tamir Rice, Eric Garner, Walter Scott, Michael Brown, and others have been in the news. There have been newspaper reports, TV news segments, police statements, speeches, demonstrations, and various media commentaries. A movement, Black Lives Matter, has arisen in response to these events. To what extent are you aware of these happenings? If you google them, you will find a great deal of information about them. As usual, some caution needs to be used in evaluating different websites. You will find a lot of coverage in the mainstream media (newspapers and TV), which is probably a good place to start.
