This essay must focus on the genre of drama that we have explored so far in this course: Trifles, A Doll’s House, Trying to Find Chinatown, and A Raisin in the Sun. You may use any combination from these plays – or only one. You will follow the standard essay format: Introduction (with your thesis), body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You will also follow the standard MLA format: Times New Roman font, double spacing, one inch margins, and 12 pt. Your paper must be at least 3 pages. Your rough draft will be due March 25, and your final paper will be due March 27. Peer reviews are essential to receiving a good grade on your paper. The class time spent on the peer review is considered a workshop class; therefore, if you are not present for the “workshop,” you cannot get credit for participation or feedback. If you do not have a rough draft for the workshop, you will have points automatically deducted from your final paper. We will be doing an in-class peer review workshop on that day, so you cannot make this up. Reminder: Papers are due at the beginning of the class period, and late papers will have 10 points deducted for every day they are late. The criteria for your paper must reflect one of the following: a theme, the setting, historical perspective, or a specific common literary device used in the plays.
