(i.e. whether policy should promote the use of land to produce food, fuel, or both) –
• You can approach this primarily from a UK* perspective, or address it at an international policy level – looking at how international aspects inter-relate to/affect the UK
*N.B. If using a UK approach, you can cover the whole of the UK, or look only at England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. (Additionally, even if your focus is on the UK, you can also discuss literature that looks at similar issues in other parts of the world; however, you do need to acknowledge any differences between that part of the world and the UK within your text.)
• Discuss how effective the delivery of current policy is in your chosen area
• Discuss the degree to which there is consensus that a current (or past) policy has/had appropriate objectives
• Look at the history and background to the current policy (i.e. how we have got to where we are now)
• Discuss the evidence base behind the introduction of / change to a particular policy or implementation mechanism in your chosen area
• Discuss how current policy in your chosen area may develop in future (if choosing this option be careful that you can find sufficient good quality / academic literature addressing this)
Whichever angle you choose, your review, should somewhere address:
• What the underlying issue is (i.e. what policy is/has been trying to address)
• What the policy is/has been (the degree to which you cover older policy in your respective area will depend on the overall approach you choose to take)
• How the policy is implemented i.e. what tools are used/have been used to achieve the policy objectives (again the degree to which you cover older implementation tools in your respective area will depend on the overall approach you choose to take)
