Paper instructions for our second paper
The task for the second paper will be to analyze and present an aspect of the Spanish Civil War as reflected in Antony Beevor’s The Battle for Spain: The Spanish Civil War, 1936-1939.
No matter which topic you choose, you must do two things effectively: you must present the details of your topic as they unfolded in the context of the actual civil war, and you must place your topic in a larger, interwar Europe context.
Theme:
• The Spanish Civil War stands as a clear example of civil war in 20th century Europe. Using Beevor’s reading as your source, write an essay in which you discuss what 20th century European civil war looked like. Chapters 8, 9, 12, 33, 35.
Mechanics:
Your paper should be six full pages in length (not counting the title page and Works Cited page), double spaced with 12 point font and normal margins. Your paper must be electronically paginated as well as paper clipped or stapled. Your paper must be thoroughly proofread—more than six proofreading errors will result in a lower letter grade. For citation of direct quotes, you may use the Chicago footnote style or MLA, but whatever form you use it must be correct and consistent. Your paper should have an unnumbered title page which contains your name, course #, date and a title. Your paper must also have a Works Cited page at the end.
