Each student is to choose a topic of interest and write a position paper. A position makes a Statement. It does not ask a question. All research must support the position. The position should be research based showing a detailed justification for the position. The position should included public policy issues, current practices, U.S. Supreme Court decisions, and other relevant information on the topic. The paper should also include a proposal for new laws addressing the topic. You must show a “works cited/reference†page for your position. The outcomes of this assignment – students will have an understanding of the political process as it relates to creating laws addressing youths – students will gain greater use of technological tools in completing research – students will have a clearer understanding of the juvenile justice process
