Students will research and prepare a team reports on a board scope of commercial databases that are available and what they can do . The class teams will choose a sample industry ,profession, service , non-governmental organization or governmental agency and conduct a study of the information systems used by the samples top management to formulate and monitor its strategic plans. Teams will have to do internet searches of software that is available and will then be expected to make contact with a representative firm in their industry or profession to discuss the practical aspects of the application of the firm’s software. Information systems that are utilized and how they are used in the strategic planning and strategic leadership process must be examined. The analyses should include a two page (max)commentary on the legal and ethical aspects of the  collection of data by a corporation- When is it justified and when it is not, and a short ,one page discussion of the protection of the company secrets and information security concerns and preventive mechanisms . Students will receive four scores based on :-
a. Score 1: An overall assessments of the types and number of categories of management information systems sources utilized by organizations, and the student scope of technology source utilized to secure this information.
b score 2: An overall assessments of what types of information organizations are collecting about customers ,suppliers , competitors , through in-house efforts and contractor sources they are paying, and/or research they are sponsoring? how this information used to advance the organization mission including inputs from industry representative?
c score: The identification of cyber-security issues ; preventive mechanisms employed and the linkage between uncertainties in the technology sphere and security measures that are being explored as preventive , rather than reactive maintenance and
Score4: The analysis of legal and ethical implications on data collection , utilizing specific examples drawn from the literature or existing practices.
