This is a 3-credit course, offered in accelerated format. This means that 16 weeks of material is covered in 8 weeks. The exact number of hours per week that you can expect to spend on each course will vary based upon the weekly coursework, as well as your study style and preferences. You should plan to spend 14-20 hours per week in each course reading material, interacting on the discussion boards, writing papers, completing projects, and doing research.

Course Description:
In this course, students learn to evaluate research and theory in an applied business setting. Students gain a comprehensive knowledge of research related to the leading and managing of business organizations from both a consumer and a creator perspective. Topics include the research process, theoretical frameworks, qualitative and quantitative approaches, and applied research design within an organizational context.

2. Apply research gatherings to formulate a literature review.
3. Interpret either quantitative or qualitative research data.
4. Utilize elements of a research paper to demonstrate comprehension.

Critical Thinking: Process of Research (65 Points) The Critical Thinking Assignement for Module 1 is based on the following two articles that were assigned reading for the module:  Bialdyga, D. (Quantitative report)  Abdul Wahat, N. W., Krauss, S. E., & Othman, J. (2013). Leadership development through workplace learning in Malaysian organizations. Asian Social Science, 9(5), 298-306. doi:10.5539/ass.v (Qualitative report) In preparation for this critical thinking assignment, please examine the sample paper in the APA 6th edition manual (pp. 41-53). The paper is illustrative of the standards for writing required in this course and the course to follow. In addition, please read Chapters 1-3 in the APA manual. The Practicing Your Skills exercise found at the end of Chapter 1 may be helpful to allow you a warm-up before completing this assignment. Using what you have learned in the chapter and in our discussion, apply your skills and knowledge to these articles. Answer the four questions listed below.  Is the quantitative report a research study? How do you know?  Is the qualitative report a research study? How do you know?  Below is a list of the five major sections that appear in most research reports. Which steps of the research process do you expect to find in each section?  The opening paragraphs (i.e., there is no heading for this section)  Background and overview of relevant literature  Method  Results  Discussion, Implications and Limitations, Conclusions  Assume that you are a senior-level manager or leader in a specific organization. Why might it be important, or not important, for you to read either or both of these research studies? Be sure to answer all four questions thoroughly and thoughtfully. Discuss and cite at least three outside references in addition to your textbook and the articles to support your answers. You can find these scholarly articles in the CSU-Global Library.
The paper should be well written and be 2-3 pages in length. Format the entire paper according to the CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements.

Critical Thinking: Organizational Problem or Business Opportunity (75 Points) SAMPLE
With this assignment, you will begin drafting your portfolio project for this course. Your critical thinking assignment should articulate your problem or opportunity in a concise and informative way. Start using the Portfolio Project Template (found in the Module 8 folder) with this assignment.
For this assignment:
 Draft the Introduction to Section 1. Use the Section I worksheet for either Organizational Problem or Business Opportunity. These are located in the Modules 2 and 8 folders
 Draft your Description of the Organizational Problem or Opportunity subsection.
 Provide at least three credible outside references that will support your future research efforts. Concentrate on using references that were published within the last five years.
 From at least one of the sources, embed a direct quote (under 40 words) within a paragraph in the paper.
 Also embed another direct quote with more than 40 words in a separate paragraph within the paper.
 As an appendix, add your in-progress Section I Worksheet, either the Business Opportunity or the Organizational Problem version, depending on your topic choice.

 As an appendix, present a 1- to 2-page essay that describes the most important concepts you learned in Business Research that would benefit your organization.
